College students can accumulate a significant burden of debt through student loans. Alisa's Angels Foundation helps our scholarship recipients by providing them loans at 1%.
The goal of this program is to help students complete their education by providing access to additional funds without the accompanying financial burden often associated with student loans. The terms of the loan are simple - 1% a year, beginning after the scheduled graduation date.
With this "pay it forward" approach, we provide support throughout their education. Repayments from the loans are then used to help the next generation of recipients.
Kimberly graduated from ASU last May, summa cum laude, with a degree in Biochemistry and a Secondary Education certificate.
She is student teaching at a high school in Scottsdale and says, “I am loving every minute of it.” She has not yet decided what she will be doing next year; she has been accepted to three graduate programs for Environmental Science and Policy. Kimberly is also considering teaching and has applied for teaching positions for high school chemistry.
