Alisa's Angels is an equal opportunity organization:
The Alisa’s Angels Foundation embraces inclusiveness, diversity, and equal opportunity as core values. We understand that the community is stronger when the gifts of all people are respected, embraced and maximized.
When I was 13 years old, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Learning how to manage my disease wasn’t the hard part. What was hard was accepting that Type 1 Diabetes was now part of me, forever. The hospital was wonderful bringing me back to health, but they weren’t so great at making me feel…okay.
This experience inspired me to join a group of teens at the University of Arizona Medical Center (now Banner) who wanted to make the hospital a more friendly and comfortable place.
I have continued this passion through a PhD program at the University of Michigan Medical School where I work full-time on research. As I continue down this path, I am more confident each day that
this is how I can make the biggest impact in my community and in the world.
Alisa's Angels scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors from Arizona and the Colorado Springs, Colorado area. Read more about our Colorado Springs eligibility here.
Alisa’s Angels scholarship recipients are working and attending school throughout the nation, from Washington state to Washington DC, Maine to Michigan, Oregon to Orlando.
