Renee Conway

2013 Recipient

PhD Candidate,
University of Michigan

Renee graduated from the University of Arizona with her Bachelors of Science in molecular and cellular biology and minors in biochemistry and mathematics.

She is pursuing her PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology and a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan.

When Renee was a young girl she was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. In high school she focused on helping other children adjust to life-changing illnesses and participated on the board of the Diamonds Children’s Hospital.

Her experience has inspired her work. She isn’t yet sure of the exact direction of her research work, but is investigating projects from better methods to help repair adult muscles to improved diabetes treatment.

Renee is excited for the opportunities ahead, “I am not sure which project I will spend the next five years working on, but I know any of them will be exciting and will make a big difference for many people in this world.”
